Our Story

Common Ground Community Kitchen is a pay-what-you-can lunch café sharing space with a used bookstore, an art gallery, and an organic produce buying club in the dining hall of the original Zion UCC mothership in downtown Evansville, Indiana.

We serve a plant-based lunch — always vegan-friendly, usually gluten-free — four days a week, offer occasional community dinners and cooking classes, and provide in-house catering to groups and organizations meeting at the church. We also host a public Song Circle in the café on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m.

As an independent small business, we lease our space from Zion UCC. While we are not formally affiliated with the church, our presence and a portion of our revenue help to support its Center for Spiritual Development & Healing, a ministry that embraces meditation, yoga, and alternative healing arts.
